Phew….what a week! It was back to school for most families here in Sarasota & Manatee counties, and we are pretty sure that everyone (kids or no kids) is ready for a breather.
To make it a little easier on you, here is a list of events this weekend! Of course, you can always just go to the beach
August 16-30, 2017: Selby Garden is hosting its 37th Annual Juried Photographic Exhibition. Photography will be on display from August 12 through September 10 in Selby’s Museum of Botany & the Arts (Payne Mansion). Event is free with admission to Selby Garden.
August 17, 2017: Stroll, shop & sip – or sip, shop & stroll! It’s the downtown Venice Wine Walk. Stroll the avenues and enjoy free wine from participating stores and wine specials at participating restaurants. To participate you must check in and get a wrist band from the kiosk in Centennial Park or Breezeway on Miami Ave (Next to Burgundy Square Cafe) the night of the event. Pick up your wristband and a list of participating downtown businesses offering discounts and specials. A novel way to approach shopping! 5 p.m – 8 p.m. downtown Venice.
August 18, 2017: Towels Court Art District Art Walk is held every third Friday of the month from 5-9pm. All galleries, restaurants and businesses will be open. HEre you will find various styles and mediums of art, and dont forget to stop by and check out live music by Rick Held & his band!
August 18 – 20, 2017: There’s a Gem, Jewelry & Bead Show with lots on display to see from dealers from around the country selling gems, jewelry, beads, crystals and more. Adults $4. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sarasota Municipal Auditorium, 801 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.
August 19, 2017: The Sarasota Farmer’s Market is staging a Woodstock Revival during the market from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. complete with a best 60s/70s outfit contest at 11 a.m. with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. There will also be kids activities,, peace sign painting, a water slide and rock wall. Free admission to the weekly farmers market, 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. Main & Lemon, downtown Sarasota, FL
August 19, 2017 – September 4, 2017: The annual Englewood Pioneer Festival is a family-friendly occasion filled with fun events including: Aug. 19: Little Miss Pageant, Aug. 26: Chalkfest 4.0, Aug. 26: Kids Shipwreck Dance, Sept. 2 Cardboard Boat Race, Shipwreck Dance & Taste of Englewood, Sept 3: Fish-a-Diaper Derby, Pioneer Days Festival and Open Car Show, Sept 4: Englewood Pioneer Days Parade & Festival and Corvette Car Show. August 19 – 20, 2017: Here’s your chance to audition for this year’s Sarasota Medieval Fair. Auditions will be Saturday and Sunday at the Sarasota Fairgrounds, off Fruitville Road, site of the Fair during three November weekends.
